Kilmore

We are within walking distance of Kilmore village, (less than 5 minutes walk),
where there are two pubs, a chemist and a post office/general grocery
store/newsagents. Guests to Kilmore Cottage can enjoy the peace of the
Irish countryside, combined with the freshness of walks on our many
local beaches.

Kilmore Quay Marina & harbour

Quay harbour

Kilmore
Quay, (about a 5 minute drive / less than 5km away) is a
good spot for a walk, to shop for art & craft, fresh fish
caught in local waters, excellent meat locally produced or
to enjoy good food in one of the seafood restaurants or
pubs. The working fishing harbour, Marina and thatched
cottages make it a great spot for an amble. There are two
piers to explore. There is also a special area of
conservation in Kilmore Quay – a nature reserve – along the
sand dunes down at Ballyteigue Burrow,
beside the sea. It is a fantastic place for a walk, wild unspoilt and
with great rural and sea views. It is possible to charter a boat from
Kilmore Quay to go fishing or to take a trip around the nearby Saltee
Islands. Check out "Autumn
Dream" charter boat, owner Eamonn Hayes. You can also visit the
Guillemot Maritime Museum, (housed on a former
lightship), in tourist season.
There
are three seals resident in the harbour, which can be seen
most days on the launching slipway beside the marina.
