What's on in Wexford this summer?

Although today is midsummer’s day, lots of people have yet to take their annual holidays. With that in mind, here’s a round-up of special events and festivals in Wexford this summer. The list below includes not only the well-known events but some lesser known, yet equally enjoyable, ones as well.

Jedward, Rubberbandits, Saw Doctors, Coronas, Cry Before Dawn, Ryan Sheridan, Original Rude Boys and more live acts play at both ticketed & free events. There is a whole range of Fringe events, events for children, a cookery demo & more.

June 25

Free admission for those who wear Wexford colours (purple & gold) to top Wexford attractions: The Dunbrody Famine Ship, Duncannon Fort, Hook Lighthouse, The Irish Agriculture Museum at Johnstown Castle, Irish National Heritage Park, National 1798 Centre, Enniscorthy Castle, Ros Tapestry in New Ross and the public swimming  pools at New Ross & Wexford

This is one of the biggest & best agricultural shows in Ireland. It’s a great family day out, with competitions featuring specially bred animals (from cows to donkeys, from poultry to goats), show-jumping, cookery & craft, sheepdog trials, a fashion show and so much more. Our guests always love this event!

This is a chance to meet the locals at this huge BBQ, with a hog roast, seafood, live music and a bar.

Ballyhealy, Kilmore

Dunbrody Festival

July 22 to 24

Jedward, Blue, Mary Byrne, Wonderland and Shakin’ Stephens are amongst the acts to play at this year’s festival.

New Ross

All Day Arts Festival

July 31

 

A diverse programme of music, theatre, dance, markets, exhibitions, workshops, activities for children and the Cáca Milis Cabaret. 10am to 5pm

 

Bull Ring, Wexford town

Art in the Open

July 29 to August 1

The harbour, the sea, narrow lanes, ancient ruins, church spires & River Slaney will all act as inspiration for the artists who will paint in “plein air” directly outside their chosen subject. There is an art competition with prizes of up to €4,000, there will also be a BBQ and a buffet supper.

Duncannon Sand Sculpting Festival

August 12 to 14

Sand sculptures by professionals, puppet shows, street theatre, amateur sand sculpting competitions5-a-side football and more

A series of classical concerts featuring two pianos, public “play me” pianos, a piano Masterclass and more.
