Johnstown Castle gardens are a 15 minute drive from our self catering holidays homes at Kilmore Cottage. Enjoy spectacular views of the lake, streams, castle and follies as you walk through this 50 acre landscaped gardens. Tarmacadem pathways make this accessible for those with wheelchairs or buggies to consider.

One way to see inside the Castle is to be lucky enough to be a wedding guest there, as it is an exclusive wedding venue.

The Irish Agricultural museum is housed within the grounds and there are modest charges for both entrance to the gardens and the museum. The castle itself is the headquarters for the Department of Agriculture and is not open to the public. There is also a picnic area and, during the summer months, a coffee shop. There are ducks, swans and peacocks in the grounds.
