Activities
and Attractions A suggested two day itinerary, suitable for all, including those
visitors with a wheelchair user in the group is: Sunday
Morning Visit nearby scenic Kilmore Quay, where there is
plenty of free car parking. Take a trip down the piers and see the
fishing fleet in harbour and the pleasure craft in the
Marina.
(Accessible toilets are located beside the pier.) Lunch at the famous seafood restaurant "The Silver Fox" in
Kilmore Quay Afternoon Visit the scenic gardens at
Johnstown
Castle. Many of the pathways are on tarmacadem, and there are
accessible toilets in the grounds. We will provide you with a
complimentary ticket to visit the gardens. You can also visit the Irish
Agricultural Museum and Famine Exhibition, located in the grounds. (A
small part of this museum is not accessible). It was "Highly Commended"
in The Museum of the Year Awards in 2003. Monday A nice day trip, (visiting accessible attractions), would be;
Morning -
Dunbrody Heritage Ship is a beautiful authentic recreation of
an original tall ship, that took thousands of Irish emigrants to North
America from Wexford in the mid 1800’s. There are live actors to bring
this attraction to life. There is a wheelchair lift to give access
to the lower deck. Afternoon – Visit the world famous
Waterford Crystal glass factory and visitor centre. (This is
also accessible and has wheelchair toilet facilities).
There are lots of other trips that you could do,
the suggested itinerary is just a sample. We would be delighted to help
you find sights and attractions that would suit you and give you a
flavour of Wexford and Ireland in the short time frame of your stay with
